Knitted Lace Scarf Workshop/Fundraising

Knitted Lace Scarf Workshop/Fundraising

Saturday 17 & 31 October, 14h00 – 17h00, 204 Lower Main Road, corner Rochester, Observatory. Bookings and eft need to be made by 10 October.

Min 6, max 8 participants.

Fee: R400 [includes 2 balls kid silk (baby goat/mohair: African Expressions – Hope), pair of needles (long 4.5mm), pattern], R100 refund on the 2nd session. R250 - first session only. Deduct R100 if you bring your own materials.

I have knitted a number of these scarves as gifts
http://marksknittingblog.blogspot.co.za/2014_07_01_archive.html and have been asked by a few people to run a workshop, so here it is. The pattern looks complicated, but if you can knit plain, then you can knit the scarf as the entire project is in plain, with a few yarn overs! The workshop will rehearse some of the procedures which may seem a little complicated and daunting and runs over two sessions. The second date, 2 weeks later, gives us time to finish the body of the scarf, ready for the fringe. It also applies pressure to commit to the project, as many unfinished knitting projects end up in cupboards draining us of energy. So the workshop comes with some healthy wellbeing practices too. This second session focuses on the fringe, blocking and comes with R100 refund.

Choose one colour you would like to knit with. Please email your choice by 10 October.

The context for the fundraiser is the acceptance of my current public knitting performance [terror]tory http://terror-tory.blogspot.co.za/ at a philosophy and artistic research conference [DARE] in Ghent http://darkprecursor.org/2014/12/23/123/, early November. As I am unaffiliated [nomadic and independent!] I am self-funding and using this workshop to generate funds for my trip.
